*WATCH ME APPLY* Amex Business Credit Card! (Amex Blue Business Cash Card)

Watch me submit an Amex Business Card application for the Blue Business Cash Card!

This credit card has been on my wish list for a number of months. I was just waiting for the right cash back signup bonus at the right time…and that time is NOW!

Here are the TOP REASONS WHY this business credit card has been on my wish list:

1. GREAT FOR NEW BUSINESS: This is one of the best business credit cards for new business because it’s easy to use, has great rewards, has no annual fee, comes with a strong signup bonus, and offers no interest for the first year. It’s also one of the easiest business credit cards to get approved for.

2. SIGNUP BONUS: The American Express Blue Business Cash Card has a welcome offer that, when at its high point, is often $500 cash in the form of a statement credit. It’s divided into 2 parts: Get a $250 statement credit after spending $5K in the first 6 months, then earn an additional $250 statement credit after spending an additional $10K in the first year. So all in, you can earn $500 in statement credits after spending $15K in Year 1.

3. 2% CASH BACK: You’ll earn an ongoing 2% cash back on all purchases regardless of the spend category, up to $50K of total spend per year. If you only spend the $15K required for the signup bonus, that’s an additional $300 cash.

4. $800 CASH: The welcome offer of $500 PLUS the $300 earned from 2% cash back on $15K of spend is a total of $800 cash back in the first year. If you only spend $15K, then that’s equivalent to a 5.3% return on everything…and THAT’S AWESOME.

5. NO ANNUAL FEE: This credit card has no annual fee, so all the cash back you earn is true profit. This also makes it a great ‘keeper card’ long term.

6. BUSINESS CREDIT CARD: Most business credit cards do not report to your personal credit report (known exceptions are Capital One and Discover). Here’s why this is so great when it comes to increasing your credit score:

- No New Account Reported: One of the important factors in your credit score is Length of Credit History (also called Average Age of Accounts, or AAoA). The longer your credit history – on individual credit cards and the collective average – the better your score. So when you apply and get approved for a new credit card, that lowers your AAoA. Usually your credit score will drop a few points temporarily and rebound a bit later, but nonetheless, it’s nice to avoid these drops when possible.

- No Utilization Reported: Another important factor in boosting your credit score is called credit utilization, which represents how much of your credit you’re using. The lower your utilization, the better (ideally under 30%, and best under 10%). So since your balance / utilization won’t be reported to the credit bureaus (and therefor won't appear on your credit report), it doesn’t matter if your balance is high some months…your credit score won’t be affected.

- Chase 5/24 Friendly: This is a secondary benefit of not having new accounts reported. JP Morgan Chase has a LOT of amazing credit cards, but for those of us who like to get new credit cards often, those Chase credit cards can be hard to get. That’s because of the ‘5/24 Rule,’ meaning Chase will not approve you for a new credit card if you’ve opened 5 or more accounts with any bank within the past 24 months. A GREAT WORKAROUND to keep getting new credit card bonuses while AVOIDING rapid increases to your 5/24 status is to get business credit cards. This allows you to get new bonuses while letting inquiries fall off your credit report and allowing your current credit cards to age (both boosting your credit score in the process). Some of those amazing Chase cards subject to 5/24 are: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Freedom, Chase Freedom Unlimited, Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus / Priority / Premier, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless / Bold, World of Hyatt Credit Card, IHG Rewards Club Premier, etc.

7. PROMO APR: The Amex Blue Business Cash credit card often comes with 0 percent interest for the first 12 months. If you have some big business expenses coming up while cash flow is temporarily down, then this is a great way to float that balance for a few months.

Note that this card is also great if you’re not into credit card churning. Sometimes it’s nice to get one new credit card per year (or even less frequently) that gives a very strong return. If that’s you, then the Amex Blue Business Cash Card is a great choice for your 2020 application!

With all that said, it’s time to submit MY new credit card application! Watch me do it!
