If you aren’t using business credit cards you are missing out BIG TIME. You could be doubling the amount of points you get, which will let you travel for free and take vacations without actually paying for them, you could have access to a crazy amount of money on top of what you already have and honestly the perks some of these cards come with are worth it by themselves.

BUT you DEFINITELY don’t have to have a businesses to get these and today we are breaking down how you can abuse these things.

Just a quick run through as to why so many credit cards nerds like myself love business credit cards, free travel, we mentioned that, HUGE credit limits, like way more than regular credit cards give you, and they don’t affect your personal credit.

The credit card companies let you be VERY creative with the word “business”.

For example, if you drive for uber or doordash or walk dogs with whatever app does that or the million other side hustles highschool kids brag about, if you are making money not from an employer, that is a business. You are technically a contractor, you can get a business credit card.

“Business” is basically anything you do where you intend to make a profit. And the key word here is INTEND, you don’t have to actually be doing it YET. When businesses start they often apply for business credit such as start up loans or credit cards even if they may not have made a single dollar yet. You just need to be EXPECTING to make money.

And what the credit card companies often ask for when applying is ESTIMATED annual revenue because they understand many of the businesses applying are just starting and don’t have a full year of income yet.

Now as far as actually getting the credit card, getting approved and getting a high limit there are a few things you will want to know.

Most business credit card applications will ask for your business name and business entity. If you have an actual business, use that name, if not, if you drive for doordash, just use your own name. If you have an entity, like an llc, s-corp or partnership, put that down, but if you are still only driving for doordash, you are a sole-proprietor.

The TAX ID is another thing they will need on this application and if you are using your own name as a sole proprietor your social security number will work here. If you are an entity or just want to get an EIN it’s free, it’s easy and you can use that as well.

Next, the Business type and nature of your business is where a lot of people make a mistake when applying for credit. Usually they give a long list of industries and you can pick which most closely resembles your business. They will use this to determine if your income and cost of goods sold seem reasonable.

But, this doesn’t limit you to how many businesses you can have, theoretically you can have a bunch of businesses that all have the same exact business credit card which allows you to get the sign up bonus multiple times over, like I have with this card.

If you have enough “businesses” you can basically guarantee 2 free round trip tickets to Europe each year with these bad boys.
