Opiates are a class of extremely physically addictive drugs, also referred to as opioids they embody the class which heroin belongs to. What makes heroin addictive is the physical dependency that makes the user use or else they will feel sicker than imaginable. This is why it's so difficult to quit heroin. The heroin withdrawal is debilitating and terrifying, heroin detox is rarely done successfully outside of jails or psych wards. Fortunately, recovery from opiate addiction is possible and these experiences are ones to learn from. Quitting heroin, though very difficult, is possible.
