'Critical' that the Future Made in Australia Act maintains 'existing infrastructure'

Orica Chief Executive Sanjeev Gandhi says it is “critical” to maintain existing manufacturing infrastructure.

Orica is the world’s biggest commercial explosive company and manufacturer of cyanide used for gold extraction.

There are concerns regarding the Australian-based company which requires gas as a raw material.

“The Future Made in Australia policy really excites me,” Mr Gandhi told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood.

“My ask is, let's first take care of the present.

“If you do not have a manufacturing infrastructure and footprint in the country, it gets very difficult to start something from scratch.”
