Mount Warning deemed men-only site by Wollumbin Consultive Group
Mount Warning in the northern region of New South Wales has been deemed a men-only site by Wollumbin Consultive Group as they continue to push for the once-popular tourist attraction to remain closed to the public.
Made up of several Aboriginal groups, the Wollumbin Consultive Group serves as a guide to the management of the landmark region and has succeeded in keeping the track closed to public access since the COVID-19 lockdowns.
A NSW National Parks and Wildlife spokesperson acknowledged an ongoing discussion between relevant stakeholders of Mount Wollumbin/Warning.
A petition to reopen the track has gained over 10,000 signatures which subsequently brought the issue to the NSW Upper House Parliament.
