Dee from PanPan in Birmingham: Stories of the West Midlands

At the core of Birmingham lies a vibrant and diverse music scene. There is an exciting network of venues that offer music and events throughout the city - a world Deena had always dreamt of being part of. Determined to turn that dream into reality, she has spent the past 10 years working as a DJ and producing music events.

She hosts Pravida - a psychedelic outernational boogie. The event is held at Pan-Pan, a bar which is “warm and quirky based in the centre of Digbeth.”

Dee also brings her upbeat party vibes across various trendy spaces in Birmingham. She hosts Energy Flow, which is a transference & intermingling queer cosmic party of shared deep grooves and entranced bass, as well as Variations - a club night consisting of a percussive and groove filled journey through world rhythms, jazzy broken beats, soulful house vocals and electronic baselines.

She says “I find it pivotal to host events which are welcoming and inclusive and where the focus is on connection, quality of sound and atmosphere.”

Community is at the heart of Dee’s work. Music fosters a strong sense of togetherness by providing shared experiences, promoting social interaction and a safe space for self expression.
