MUST SEE: Release of SEVEN Slow Lorises Into The Wild!
EXCITING NEWS! SEVEN SLOW LORISES HAVE BEEN RELEASED! DROP A 💚 EMOJI IN THE COMMENTS IF YOU LOVE AND WANT MORE GOOD NEWS STORIES LIKE THIS
The BBKSDA, with support from our Indonesian partners YIARI and Mount Halimun Salak National Park Center (BTNGHS), have returned seven Javan Slow Lorises to their natural habitat in Mount Koneng, within the Gunung Halimun Salak National Park.
💚 This beautiful moment marks the successful rehabilitation and release of six male lorises - Paw-paw, Klap, Kilat, Teru, Ciban, Cibon - and one female, Ciben. These amazing creatures, once victims of displacement and captivity, were provided with expert rehabilitative care at YIARI’s rescue center in Ciapus!
⛰️ 🌿 The selection of Mount Koneng for their release was meticulous, ensuring a habitat rich in natural food sources and other nourishing flora and fauna, vital for their survival. With low competition for resources and a supportive local community already having an awareness of the importance of protecting biodiversity, the area met all the requirements for a release site.
⌛ Their journey back to the wild involves a careful habituation process, allowing them to adjust seamlessly to their new environment. They will spend several days in a closed-off area before being fully released into the rainforest.
This marks a hopeful beginning for 2024, and we are so thankful to the supporters of the project in Indonesia who have made this possible! If you have any animal loving friends, help us spread this wonderful news and be a part of ongoing conservation efforts by liking and sharing in your stories.
