Lessons Learned from building CC LED power supplies / Investigating fake LM2596 regulators

I've been working on building myself some custom workbench lighting using COB LED panels, and ran into a snag with my constant-current power supplies that I planned on using as LED dimmers. The inductors go hot. Really hot. So I thought I'd try a higher frequency switcher with a lower inductance (and higher current) inductor. Unfortunately, the LM2596 150Khz regulators I ordered didn't work out, and this video demonstrates the problem. I also explored several other issues with my original design. I actually ended up going with an XL4005-based supply, but that'll be the story of the next video. For more electronics projects, see http://www.smbaker.com/
