For this comparison to be fair and since the main complaint of these people is supposedly the fact that Islam didn’t deserve a title shot we have to compare their last 5 opponents before getting a title shot, not Islam’s fights as a contender against Charles fights with his title defenses as a champ because what you do before the title fight is what makes you worthy of one, and facing the best of the best as a champ is expected and contenders has no other choice but to get through the champ to get the belt, as you can see there isn’t much of a difference and Charles didn’t fight Thanos to get a title shot against new comer Michael chandler!. Think about it why didn’t we see these unfair comparisons with any other title fight, comparing the champion’s record with the contender’s even when fighters are getting title shots in their second or 3rd UFC fight like Michael chandler and Alex Pereira, I have a firm belief that Islam’s background has a lot to do with this bias and unfairness towards him.
