Officially the federal government recognizing Juneteenth Today on Monday June 20

The day recognizing the end of slavery in America. Seems word of the Emancipation Proclamation took a while getting to Texas…like 2 years and 2 months later. The Reverend Bill Pierce of Imitate the Image Church in North Casper has been Leading the movement through the NAACP here in Wyoming for years. Back in 2003 the legislature endorsed the observance of the holiday through Reverend Pierce’s efforts. It became a National Holiday a year ago.
