Revisiting Joy DeGruy: Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome

In solidarity with #BlackLivesMatter and #AmplifyMelanatedVoices, CIIS Public Programs is highlighting conversations from its archives that feature black thinkers, activists, and writers.

Here CIIS features CIIS Public Programs podcast, recorded on January 19, 2018, with author Joy DeGruy who is joined in conversation by CIIS Dean of Diversity and Inclusion Denise Boston to explore how trans-generational trauma and systems of oppression have influenced race relations in America today.

We hope that listening to this episode, and Revisiting Series as a whole, provides resources and connection in these transformative times.

CIIS Public Programs podcasts, conversation, and workshops further personal and social transformation by bringing together the diverse voices of visionaries, artists, change-makers, and scholars to share compelling experiences, offer new perspectives, and expand creative horizons.
CIIS Public Programs forwards the mission of California Institute of Integral Studies, a San Francisco-based university.
