Louisiana Shooting: Gunman Neutralised After Shooting Eight Children And Mother

A horrific mass shooting took place in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 19, when 32-year-old Shamar Elkins allegedly killed eight children, including seven of his own. The children ranged in age from 1 to 12 years old. Police said Elkins first shot the mother of the children before going to the residence and opening fire. Two adult women were also critically injured in the attack. One child survived by jumping off the roof.

The suspect fled the scene by carjacking a vehicle but was later chased and shot dead by police. Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a bitter divorce dispute, as the couple was scheduled to appear in court the next day. The local community held an emotional candlelight vigil to mourn the young victims, with many expressing heartbreak and calling for stronger measures to prevent such tragedies.
