Gluten Free Challah | Bake with Me

Bake with me! I’m sharing my recipe for gluten free challah (made from scratch!). Not only do I go through the entire baking process with you for this gluten free challah, I also talk about substitutions you can make in the recipe (including an egg free version!) and other variations with their respective results. We have been gluten free since my son was diagnosed with Celiac two years ago, so this is a celiac safe gluten free challah recipe!

Chana’s Gluten Free Challah:

In a medium bowl, stir:
1 cup very warm water
2 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp yeast

In a large bowl add:
2lbs 5oz oat flour
3.5oz tapioca starch
.5oz xantham gum
1lb potato starch
1/2 cup sugar

Using a whisk, blend the dry ingredients well.

Once blended, add:
1 cup of vegetable oil
1 cup of honey
8 eggs
4 cups of water
Proofed yeast

Mix well. Spoon into bread pans. Let sit for 30 minutes, then bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
