South America is a continent in the Western Hemisphere, mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, with a relatively small portion in the Northern Hemisphere. It may also be considered a subcontinent of the Americas, which is how it is viewed in most of Europe and the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking regions of the Americas. South America has an area of 17,840,000km2 and population estimated at more than 423 million and ranks fourth in area after Asia, Africa, and North America and fifth in population after Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America. Just as it is diversed, so does it have numerous cities of varying sizes, culture, people, lifestyle and flavors.

South America is packed with so many beautiful cities with each one portraying a uniqueness which draws many tourists and explorers to it, so, in no particular order, here are the top 10 Most beautiful Cities in South America
10. Sao Paolo, Brazil
São Paulo is a municipality in the Southeast Region of Brazil, an alpha global city and the most populous city in Brazil, and is also the largest Portuguese-speaking city in the world. With a land area of 1,521.11km2 inhabited by 12.5million people, the people of Sao Paolo are native to over 200 different countries. The nightlife here is massive, with over 15,000 bars filling the city and with each culture adding to the wonderful mix of cultures that is Sao Paulo. It a sophisticated city with a melting pot of cultures with influences from Japan, Italy, Lebanon, Germans and a growing number of Peruvians and Bolivians making it a unique fusion of culture. There are plenty of cool and unusual attractions in Sao Paulo alongside the museums and cathedrals. Visit Beco do Batman, Batman Alley, an open-air gallery of street art attracting artists from all over the world. You can visit the world’s previous highest Lego tower, made of 500,000 pieces, till Milan snatched the title in 2015. And of course, there are plenty of shopping options, from high-end designer clothes to markets full of antiques and handicrafts.
9. Cartagena, Colombia
The city of Cartagena is a major port founded in 1533, on the northern coast of Colombia in the Caribbean Coast Region. It is the capital of the Bolívar Department with a population of 1.5million people. A 16th century port, Cartagena’s history is just as colorful as the vibrantly painted houses that line the streets. The Old Town is full of beautiful colonial buildings, an open-air museum telling stories of the city’s intriguing past. Cartagena is the perfect city to explore on foot. The heat and humidity can take its toll while you’re exploring, a great excuse to stop at one of many bars and restaurants. The fortified walls previously protected the city from invasion while today it shelters it from the coastal winds. The fortress, the most extensive in South America, is a great walking platform around the city.Outside of the Old Town there is plenty more to discover. Getsemani is a vibrant place to get an insight into local life, street art creatively displaying the spirit of the neighborhood. For sweeping views over the city, climb to the top of Castillo San Felipe de Barajas while learning about the 17th and 18th century history of pirates, sieges and leprosy. In 1984, Cartagena's colonial walled city and fortress were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
