Imperator, Vaterland, and Bismarck: Germany's First Superliners

In this ShipStory, we discuss the three giant ocean liners built by Germany in the 1910s: Imperator, Vaterland, and Bismarck. These ships were Germany's response to Britain's Lusitania, Mauretania, Olympic, and Titanic. The Hamburg-Amerika Line (HAPAG) intended to have a 3-ship express service between Germany and New York. Germany's role in World War I, though, meant that this ambitious dream would never come to fruition. Find out what happened to Hamburg-Amerika's gigantic trio of ocean liners in this video.
