[Remastered] Yehudi Menuhin: F. Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in e Minor, Op. 64, 1947 in Hollywood

As a prodigy violinist of the 20th century, Yehudi Menuhin is considered one of the most talented and great violinists in the world.

The original recording is from a unique documentary – "Concert Magic", which was filmed in Charlie Chaplin's studios in Hollywood in 1947. Directed by Paul Gordon, featuring Yehudi Menuhin as the violinist and conducted by Antal Doráti with the Hollywood Symphonic Orchestra formed especially for the occasion.

Due to the old technology at that time, there are a lot of problems with sound quality and the sync of the video with audio. I used several different techniques to restore this recording, including high frequency regenerate, denoise, manually time-remapping all scenes that were not synced together and so on. I did my best to make it sound as realistic as possible, hopefully to make this pure gold "shine" again. Though the result is far from perfect, I think the overall improvement of sound quality is still quite remarkable.

I hope you'd enjoy this remastered version of this world-class recording, Maestro Menuhin's rendition of this concerto is far beyond our imagination.
