Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo Metroidvania Preview - Soulsborne Seeker

Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo is a metroidvania/zelda-like hybrid with some amazing Yoyo gameplay!

A big thank you to the developer, Pocket Trap, for providing me with advance access to the first few hours of Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo!

The story transpires in New Jolt City, a sprawling, colorful urban jungle populated by anthropomorphic animals, where the powerful Pipistrello family reigns supreme as they hold a monopoly over the city’s electricity provision, which they have achieved after their discovery of a special flower’s powerful energetic properties. Needless to say, their stranglehold over the city is not being taken well by other businesses, who are struggling to pay the absurd tariffs imposed by the Pipistrellos. You take on the role of Pipit, the black sheep of the Pipistrellos since he doesn’t care at all about the family business and is, instead, laser-focused on becoming a yoyo master! However, during his annual visit to his family’s manor to meet with his aunt, who leads the business, Pipit’s life is about to take an adventurous turn when the home is attacked by a group of individuals who have had enough of the Pipistrello’s domination. The attackers end up taking his aunt’s soul and dividing it evenly across four mega-batteries, but not before Pipit’s intervention that puts a small dent in their plans by absorbing a fraction of her soul in his yoyo. Left for dead, Pipit and his now-sentient yoyo embark on a quest to retrieve the soul-fragments and restore the Pipistrellos to their former glory!
