Farmer agitation continues on the Delhi border in protest against the three agricultural laws. Meetings are going on between the government and farmer leaders. The subject of the most controversy is the minimum support price of crops i.e. MSP. The central government is assuring the MSP but the farmers are saying that the government should withdraw all the three laws. The farmers say that the MSP does not provide written guarantee in the laws. A report is under discussion among all this. The opposition says that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he had submitted a report on consumer affairs to the Indian government. The Congress party says that then Narendra Modi had recommended to ensure MSP through a statutory body to protect the interest of farmers.Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said the Minimum Support Price (MSP) cannot be put into the new farm laws but assured that the MSP regime is here to stay. Speaking exclusively to India Today News Director Rahul Kanwal, Tomar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given an assurance to the farmers that MSP will continue.
