The Sada Abe case was a shocking 1936 murder in Japan that became a national sensation. Sada Abe, a former geisha, had a passionate affair with Kichizō Ishida, a married man. Overcome by obsessive love, she strangled him during sex, then severed his genitals and carried them with her. She carved her name into his body and stayed with the corpse for hours.

After a massive manhunt, she was arrested and calmly confessed, saying she wanted to keep part of him forever. She was sentenced to six years in prison and released after five.
