Top 10 Weakest Currencies in the World 2020
Hello Displorers, welcome to another exciting video presented to you by Displore. In this video, we shall take a look at the top 10 weakest currencies in the world. The strength of a currency is determined by the degree of purchasing power of the currency in other countries. The strength of a currency is basically the strength of the economy of the country that powers that currency as well as the demand for the currency in the world. A weak currency is one whose value fluctuates easily in the exchange rates and one which does not have international market demand. The US dollar is the most traded currency because 64 percent foreign exchange transactions are made in USD. That’s why, it’s quite reasonable to base this list by setting US Dollar as standard unit for measuring value of currencies.

10. Cambodian Riel: 1 USD = 4,042 KHR
The riel is the currency of Cambodia Monarch State in Southeast Asia. There have been two distinct riel, the first issued between 1953 and May 1975. Between 1975 and 1980, the country had no monetary system. A second currency, also named "riel", was issued in March 20, 1980. Originally, the Riel had a low exchange rate and was not popular among locals who have decided to use foreign currencies. Many Cambodians prefer to use the US dollar for payments now, which causes the local currency to devalue even more.
9. Paraguayan Guarani: 1 USD = 6,428 PYG
The Guarani is the national currency unit of Paraguay. Paraguay is the second poorest South American country. It suffered a disastrous economic downturn, combining inflation, corruption, low education quality, an enormous number of poor people, high unemployment etc. Paraguay exports cotton and soybeans, but this is hardly enough to cover its economic needs. The Guarani was divided into 100 céntimos but, because of inflation, céntimos are no longer in use. The law creating the Guarani was passed on 5 October 1943, and replaced the peso at a rate of 1 Guaraní = 100 pesos. Between 1960 and 1985, the Guaraní was pegged to the United States dollar at 126 PYG to 1USD. 1USD is currently worth 6,428.58 Paraguayan Guarani.
8. Lao or Laotian: 1 USD = 8,849 LAK
The kip is the currency of Laos since 1955. Historically, one kip was divided into 100 att. In 1945–1946, the Free Lao government in Vientiane issued a series of paper money in denominations of 10, 20 and 50 att and 100 kip before the French authorities took control of the region. The Lao is the only currency in this video which did not devalue but was originally issued with a very low rate. Besides, since its issue in 1952, the currency did strengthen against the US Dollar and continues to improve its value.

7. Guinean Franc: 1 USD = 9,515 GNF
