The over 800 coronavirus victims in Victoria ‘deserve more than a coverup’: Credlin

Sky News host Peta Credlin says she will not go away and won’t stop investigating until she gets to the bottom of the failures of the Victorian government because “800 dead deserve more than a cover-up”.

It comes as the Coate inquiry into hotel quarantine has decided call for an “extraordinary sitting” at 2pm after refusing to recall witnesses on multiple occasions.

“Now you need to understand that the Coate Inquiry is not a judicial inquiry,” Ms Credlin said.

“The Premier and others like to imply it is – given it's run by a former Family Court judge – but it's not.

“Anyone who has followed this sorry tale can see it's got none of the powers a truth-telling inquiry, like this, should have”.

Ms Credlin said the decision that the Andrews government made to “go it alone,” and not take up the federal government’s offer of ADF assistance like other states, matters.

“And this is the very truth that the Coate Inquiry must be determined to uncover.

“Or stand aside and say only a Royal Commission can do it from here.”
