On July 12, 1998, France became world champions in soccer. However, an hour before kick-off, an extraordinary runway show took place at the Stade de France with 300 models, celebrating Yves Saint Laurent’s forty years working in fashion. A historic moment celebrating all that the Hexagon has to offer.

Facing off against Brazil in the World Cup Final in 1998, France was preparing to play their final match – and we all know the happy outcome. Here, sport and fashion joined forces with a one-off #SaintLaurent runway show organized inside the Stade de France. The label, an emblem of French luxury, was celebrating its fortieth year, and just before the match, 300 of the best looks from previous shows graced the pitch. The titanesque extravaganza required 900 backstage hands, 130 dressers and 4000 stadium staff. Six themes including pop art, the arts, glamour and Eastern, each with 50 models, showed off all the house has to offer since 1958 on a catwalk designed to look like the sky. Over fifteen minutes, the show unfurled with music by Metal Voice, Carla Bruni, Katoucha, Laetitia Casta, Adriana Karembeu and Noémie Lenoir, and a series of supermodels came together in this historical moment of sport and music.
