Dr Pandit Ranajit Sengupta & Smt. Shirin Sengupta Nath | Guru Purnima | Tribute | Milap

Here the internationally renowned Dr Panadit Ranajit Sengupta & Smt Shirin Sengupta Nath pay tribute to their Gurus in this short online performance for #Milap. This performance features traditional Vedic texts (Guru Stotram / Guru Vandana) especially meant to pay homage to their gurus on this full moon day. The music was composed using four morning ragas (Bibhas, Bhatyiar, Lalit and Bhairav) especially for these 'Mantras' in 2013 by Dr Pandit Ranajit Sengupta, and it was recorded and sung by Smt Shirin Sengupta Nath as a special Tribute to their Gurus. Later, Dr Pandit Ranajit Sengupta composed & designed a different soundscape around the vocals inspired by the 1970 Album "Lata Mangeshkar Recites Bhagawad Geeta" composed by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar.

Dr Pandit RANAJIT SENGUPTA is one of the Best Sarod Players & Music Composers from India having performed around the world for last 27 years. He is a student of late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan & Ustad Aashish Khan of Maihar Senia Gharana & attended several workshops by Late Dr Ustad Ali Akbar Khan in India & California. He is one of the youngest TOP Grade Sarod Players from All India Radio & Television & winner of "Presidents' award for securing First position in All India Radio Competition, Acharya Baba Allauddin Memorial Award, Pandit Nikhil Bannerjee Memorial Award & "Best talent of the Year" award by HMV to name a few. He is a topper in both Graduation & Master's Exam from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata & is a Guest Lecturer in Universities in USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, England & India. He has performed in Major Music Festivals & Venues in more than 45 Countries including USA, Canada, Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, The Netherlands, Greece, England, Scotland, Estonia, Russia, Africa, United Arab Emirates, Syria & Caribbean Islands to name a few. He has over 50 CD & DVD releases from around the world.

By dint of her extreme passion for music, rigorous practices and overall renditions, Shirin Sengupta has already established herself as a prominent and versatile Indian Classical Vocalist (KHEYAL), representing India in major music festivals & venues around the globe. Shirin’s inherent talent and skill, substantiated by immaculately adhering to the rich and intricate guidelines, bestowed upon her by her reverend GURUs right from her infancy till now, have all definitely helped her to gradually develop and achieve her own style and individuality. Starting from initial musical training from her parents - Mr. R. M. Nath & Mrs. Sunanda Nath, from the age of three Shirin was fortunate enough to get ‘TAALIM’ from eminent Maestros Late Pandit A. T. Kanan, Late Vidushi Sipra Bose, Pandit Arun Bhaduri and finally Padmashree Pandit ULHAS KASHALKAR , during the tenure of her learning as A-GRADE‟ Scholar in the ITC/SRA. As an result, SHIRIN has been able to acquire the Art of exposing ‘THEHERAO’ of KIRANA GHARANA, ‘BAHALWA & GAMAK’ of GWALIOR GHARANA, ‘LAY-KARI’ of AGRA GHARANA.

This apart Shirin has had extensive musical training under the tutelage of LATE Vidushi Sipra Bose, Pandit Dina Nath Mishra and Mr. Subhrajyoti Chakrabarty, who had paved the way of fulfilling her aspirations in making herself adept equally in all the facets of vocal performances.
