Titanic's Extraordinary Survivor | Charles Joughin #Shorts

When the Titanic was sinking, Charles Joughin the chief baker of the ship decided to face death by getting drunk.
But while he made repeated trips to his cabin to drink, he did everything possible to save more people. He gave up his seat in a life boat, forced some reluctant women to board the lifeboats, threw deck chairs overboard for the ones who couldn't make it to lifeboats just so they would have something to cling on to and eventually he made his way to the stern of the Titanic, clinging to the railing and riding the ship into the sea like an elevator in his own words. He was the last person to be on-board the Titanic.
Thanks to the alcohol, he survived for about 2 hours in the freezing waters before he made his way to a lifeboat and was eventually rescued from the sea with only swollen feet.

After surviving the disaster, Joughin went back to work on various ships and survived the sinking of the SS Oregon. He also baked bread for soldiers on transport ships during the second World war.

The man who drank copious amounts of liquor as the ship sank and survived at the end is one of the most extraordinary stories of survival from the Titanic disaster.
