Gorgeous Yellow Calcite and Shell Fossils! Fossil Hunting in Florida! "Adventures in Florida" Ep. 2

In this one, we continue our aawesome Florida journey with some rockhounding and fossil hunting! I obtained permission to hunt a spot with a fair amount of fill material; most fill material for construction sites, parking lots, etc. in Florida consist mostly of Pliocene limestone that contains some very interesting calcified fossils and full blown crystals. Not knowing what to expect, we head to the site to see what discoveries we can make. Boy were we pleasantly surprised! Gorgeously preserved shell fossils, highly calcified quahog clam fossils, and even a great deal of beautiful golden dogtooth calcite crystals! We will definitely be heading back during our next trip if at all possible! This was one blast of a hunt and IMMENSELY different than the fossil hunting that I am accustomed to in Montana!
