Hinton Lecture 2023 - The winds of change: engineering a greener future - Thomas Thune Andersen

The annual Hinton Lecture is the Academy's most prestigious lecture and a highlight in the engineering calendar.

This year we are delighted to welcome Thomas Thune Andersen, Chairperson Ørsted, Lloyd's Register Group, Lloyd's Foundation and VKR Holding to deliver his keynote address: ‘The winds of change: engineering a greener future.’

Through the story of Ørsted’s pivot from black to green energy, this lecture highlights how a shared vision with social purpose, a shift in mindset and a systemic approach to engineering can create a more sustainable world.

As Thomas says, “In an ever-changing world, engineering plays a critical role in tackling society’s greatest challenges. Using new approaches and diversity of thought, engineers can change the world we live in for the better.”

Following the Lecture, there will be an audience Q&A, chaired by Dr Hayaatun Sillem CBE, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
