Today we’re talking about how to learn any song by ear in 15 minutes. Yes, it CAN be done. Now I can’t guarantee that you’ll be able to conquer a jazz fusion piece or a complex Rush song in 15 minutes right after watching this video, but this powerful method will help you immediately in learning by ear any pop song you might play on a gig… without having to consult drum tabs or song tutorials on the internet. We’ve all been there at some point in our learning… We have to learn a new song, so we scour the internet looking for a reliable “tab” for it. We then scour youtube, looking for a reliable tutorial on how to play the groove…and we hope it’s correct. By the time we’ve done all this and learned and practiced the song ourself, we’ve spent hours and hours just on one song. There most definitely is a better way, and that’s what I’m teaching you today. You CAN learn any song by ear without consulting potentially unreliable sources on the internet. You CAN write your own simple chart that will ensure you’re playing things right, and you’ll be able to memorize it much more quickly. After all, the goal here is to memorize the song so we can perform it confidently. This is just how I’ve done this on hundreds…maybe even a thousand songs I’ve learned in my playing career.
