Third in the series of Edinburgh Culture Conversations - held Monday 27th July 2020. Produced by the University of Edinburgh's Festivals, Culture and City Events Team and hosted by Director, Janet Archer.
How are artists responding to the pandemic?Which work from this period will we remember and how will it influence future practice?
What is stimulating artists to make work during this period? Is practice being reframed to accommodate the new normal? What resources are artists drawing on to generate new work? And how will it be experienced by audiences in this time of social distancing?

Dr. Guy Cools
Dr. Guy Cools is a dance dramaturge. He is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ghent University, where he finished a practice-based PhD on the relationship between dance and writing. He has worked as dance critic and dance curator. From 1990 till 2002, he curated the dance programme of Arts Centre Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium and has also curated many international festivals, conferences and research labs. As a production dramaturge, he worked amongst others with Jean Abreu (UK), Koen Augustijnen (BE), Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (BE), Danièle Desnoyers (CA), Alexander Gottfarb (AT), Lia Haraki (CY), Christopher House (CA), Akram Khan (UK), Joshua Monten (SUI), Arno Schuitemaker (NL) and Stephanie Thiersch (DE).
Professor Juan Cruz
Professor Juan Cruz joined the University of Edinburgh in 2019 as Principal of Edinburgh College of Art having previously held the role of Dean of Arts & Humanities at the Royal College of Art. His own disciplinary background is in Fine Art, an area in which he continues to practice and research. @juan_cruz_01
Suzy Glass
Suzy Glass is an independent Producer and Cultural Consultant based in Scotland with more than fifteen years of experience working across the art, design and media sectors. She is interested in emerging and unusual contexts, focussing on sited and digital work. http://www.suzyglass.co.uk/
Stewart Kyasimire
Film-maker Stewart Kyasimire directed BBC Scotland's “Black and Scottish”, a seminal, identity-defining film gathering together prominent black Scots from all generations. Stewart noticed the lack of diversity and inclusion within the film and TV industry on and off-screen. His company 'Create Anything' has set out to tell minority ethnic stories. @SKyasimire

Hanna Tuulikki
Hanna Tuulikki is an artist, composer and performer based in Glasgow. Her practice spans performance, film and multi-channel audio-visual installation, blending together vocal music, dance, costume and drawing. Her multi-disciplinary projects investigate the ways in which the body communicates beyond and before words, to tell stories through imitation, vocalisation and gesture. hannatuulikki.org
