"PUCK" and BOTTOM" (choreo: John Clifford)
In my child friendly version of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM which I choreographed for the student dancers of The Portland Ballet in Portland, OR, (my former Los Angeles Ballet principal dancers, Nancy Davis and Jim Lane founded and run this school and pre-professional company) I wanted to show more of how "Puck" teases "Bottom" before turning him into an Ass. Using the music Balanchine uses for "Hermia's" variation, I fashioned this playful Pas de Deux. Lucas Pitts (14 yrs old) is "Puck" and guest artist Josh Murry is "Bottom." This video is from 2012
