Allegra Kent on TV

In the 1960's the great American ballerina (and Balanchine's Muse before Suzanne Farrell) was Allegra Kent. Besides her career with the NYC Ballet Ms. Kent danced often on television and represented the ideal of what an "American" ballerina could be. Always fresh, unmannered, and totally the "girl next door," she brought the American public to a familiarity not seen before. She often danced in a jazzy style as in this short dance by Matt Mattox, a well-known Jazz choreographer. The two men with her are Anthony Blum and Basil Thompson.
