Joys (Robin Ward) - I STILL LOVE HIM (Gold Star Studio) (1964)

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Valiant 6042) Out of Los Angeles, arranger/producer/composer extraordinaire, Perry Botkin Jr., teams up once again with L.A. session vocalist, Jackie Ward on this Spectoresque Girl Group release. Mr. Botkin has confirmed that Miss Ward was also joined at the microphone with Carol Connors on this 'Wall of Sound' track and Botkin himself was on of the male background vocalists. Recorded at Hollywood's historic Gold Star Studios in early 1964, the Jerry Cole and Jimmy Cross tune, 'I Still Love Him' was ultimately issued under the group name, the Joys. Botkin slathered on a deliciously sweet as cotton candy arrangement laden with lots of percussive effects and a dreamy string section under Jackie's plaintive lead vocals. For those not familiar with Miss Ward who was a very busy background vocalist in the 1960's and 1970's, her biggest claim to fame was being a 'one hit wonder'. Credited as Robin Ward, in 1963 she visited hitsville with her million selling Dot single, 'Wonderful Summer' which Perry Botkin Jr. also co-wrote, co-produced and arranged.
