Low yielding 60 to 100+ year old bush vines growing on trossos (steep slopes). Up to 80% (40°) slope.

Llicorella (fractured black slate) bedrock with none or very little topsoil. Up to 600m altitude with cooling sea breezes makes Porrera vineyards the last to be picked in Priorat.

Somewhere between 2-8 vines are required to produce each bottle of wine.
Grapes handpicked from October to November. 49ha of biodynamic vineyards with 20 local family growers supplying additional fruit.

Mules are used to work the land.

Reds:
Cariñena (Carignan) & Garnacha (Grenache).

Whites:
Garnacha Blanco, Piquepole, Macabeo (Viura) & Escanyavelles (old lady choker).

Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier are being replaced by local varieties.

Complex whites.

Concentrated full bodied red wines.

The Porrera growers co-operative was in operation for only 10 years before phylloxera struck. This building was then renovated in the late '90s by Lluís Llach & Enric Costa as a social revolution project.

Wines moved around the winery according to moon cycles.

Wild yeasts. Each plot is vinified separately to make approx. 100 parcels each year.

Maturation in French oak barrels for 18 months.

Priorat is a must visit for any wine lover.
