Ho-Me-I-Ku People are born to be praised | Kunio Hara | TEDxElMenzahED
Hara worked at a consulting company called Funai Consulting. However, he wanted to become a consultant who can understand and sympathize feelings of the workers in the field, so he changed his job and became a worker at a ramen shop. He started as a person who washes dishes, and became a live-in worker at the shop for 4 years. Years later, he became a manager at a ramen shop. During that time, he scolded and pointed at the faults of the employees. Because of this, his employees started to quit. One day, one of his employees said who is the MVP this month? He realized that this is the key to changing him and his shop. It was obvious that no one becomes happy and motivated by scolding and only picking up people’s faults. He came up with the original method of Ho-Me-I-Ku which means, Praising each other. -Founder of the Ho-Me-I-Ku Group
I have developed a Japanese educational method called "Ho-Me-I-Ku" and spread it to a total of 500,000 people in 17 countries around the world.
I moved from a major consulting agency to being a dish washer in a restaurant for four years, and then worked my way back up to management.
Then, neuroscience and psychology were blended with education and lived experience to develop the educational method I call "Ho-Me-I-Ku."
It has been introduced to more than 300 companies and educational institutions, from early childhood education to entrepreneurs. The Ho-Me-I-Ku Online Salon contains information on how to develop any kind of human relationship.
In addition to Japan, the Ho-Me-I-Ku method has been introduced in the United States, China, India, Singapore, and Thailand, and published in 15 books which have been translated into English, Chinese, and Korean This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
