GAP Pre-73 MKII vs Neve Portico 5012 mic preamp shootout soundest

Hello friends! I have another mic preamp shootout for you. This is comparing the budget friendly GAP Pre73 MKII (has been replaced by the current MKIII at retailers @ $350 for one channel) and the Rupert Neve Portico 5012 dual mic preamp ($1725/2 channels= $862 for one channel).

As stated in the beginning of the video I acknowledge the GAP is a 1073 clone and the Portico is not a Neve 1073, but the Portico was designed by Rupert Neve and has a lot of the 1073 in it's sound/DNA. Still an interesting comparison.

Signal chain:
-Matched pair of Neumann TLM 103's with capsules aligned as closely as possible and recording the same source/take for each instrument/source you hear
-One TLM 103 goes to the Pre73MKII, the other goes to the Portico 5012
-From the preamps they go into the line input on the back of my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 Gen 2
-Recorded into Logic at 24bit/48k

As always I learn a lot about the gear I test, and hopefully you do too. Let me know what you hear in the comments!
