For many unbridled innovation is a guarantee for future success. But in the case of LEGO it nearly spelled the end of an iconic brand. By 2003 LEGO had created an abundance of innovation and successfully applied all the advice of experts. But in reality it was virtually out of cash and left with products that failed to win over consumers. At InnoTown 2013, David Robertson will explain how LEGO turned itself around from a failing brand to the healthiest, most profitable & fastest-growing company in the toy industry.

About David Robertson:
David Robertson is the practice professor Operations and Information Management at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. His research has appeared in some of the most respected management publications and his insights have found a captive audience in the boardrooms of companies such as Credit Suisse, EMC, HSBC, Skanska and BT.

But it was his position as the LEGO professor of Innovation and Technology at the Institute for Management Development (IMD) from 2002 to 2010 that afforded him front- row views of how one of the world’s most beloved toy brands reinvented innovation.
