How Germans Divided by the Berlin Wall Felt When It Fell

In November 1989, the Berlin Wall fell after 28 years dividing the German city in half. East Berlin was the communist side and cut off from western culture and the ideas of West Berlin. The wall, which was a massive concrete structure that ran through the city like a vein, was surrounded by armed guards on both sides. Thirty years ago, the wall began to crumble as East Berliners pushed for unification and communism began to fall in Europe. As the wall fell, Inside Edition was on the front lines and met with people from the East as they started their new lives in the West. #InsideEdition
