Berlin Wall separated a young couple - Documentary shot unofficially in 1989

The film about the love between Anne from West Berlin and Sebastian from East Berlin was made in the summer of 1989 and screened in November in the same week that the Wall came down. Since that time Germany and Berlin have gone through the political process of reunification. But are the Germans unified as a people? Anne and Sebastian, more than a year after the collapse of Eastern Europe, are sceptical. Their love is as strong as ever but their relationship is subject to new pressures. In the past they were kept apart by the Wall. In the New Germany they are forced apart by the pressures of survival in a competitive Western culture and economy. The film includes extended sequences from their life in Berlin during the painful years when the city was divided by the Wall.
