The Analogue Pocket continues to evolve as a powerful retro gaming tool, now enabling users to dump, archive, and program cartridges directly from the device. With experimental tools like 29x, a spin-off of MROM focused on reprogrammable cartridges, users can go beyond preservation and actively write game data back onto compatible carts.

This early preview build introduces support for specific flash memory such as the IS29GL032-70TLET, allowing cartridge programming up to 64KiB when used with compatible hardware like MODRETRO Chromatics PCBs. Designed and tested on Pocket firmware 2.5, the tool offers a glimpse into advanced cartridge manipulation, though it remains highly specific in compatibility and will reject unsupported hardware.

While this opens exciting possibilities for backing up and restoring games, users should proceed with caution—programming will overwrite existing data on cartridges. As development continues, this functionality highlights the growing versatility of the Analogue Pocket as not just a gaming device, but a serious tool for game preservation, restoration, and hardware experimentation.
