Toll in Hyderabad fire goes up to 17; eight children among victims

The death toll in the massive fire at Gulzar House near the historic Charminar on Sunday has risen to 17, officials said.

Speaking to PTI, fire Fire department DG Y. Nagi Redd, said,"A fire breaks out in a residential building in Hyderabad around 6:15 AM. The fire department receives a call at 6:16 AM and left for the accident site by 6:20 AM. The cause of the fire is a short circuit in the building. A total of 21 people are in the building when the fire occurs. Only 4 people, who are staying on the upper floor, survive. The remaining 17 people are shifted for treatment but do not survive.."
