The Hidden Cost of Luxury: Retail Therapy Concept Breakdown | The War Within

In this video, I break down the concept behind "Retail Therapy", the eighth artwork from my conceptual art project "The War Within: Breaking Out of Perdition".

The project follows the journey of a marginalized Black man as he uncovers hidden truths about history, identity, race, institutional control, media influence, and psychological conditioning. Each chapter explores a different stage of an internal struggle shaped by systemic marginalization.

In "Retail Therapy", the conflict moves inward.

The artwork explores how consumerism can become a coping mechanism for unresolved emotional wounds. Through transparent human figures, exposed anatomy, luxury symbolism, and surreal urban environments, the piece examines the tension between external success and internal deterioration.
