How to Measure Blood Pressure Using an Automatic Monitor

If participating in the V-Healthy Program, this video will provide the guidelines to successfully measure and record the blood pressure and pulse of an adult.

When having your blood pressure monitored, remember to:
- Sit still and take a few relaxing breaths.
- Sit with your back straight and supported. Your feet should be flat on the floor and not crossed.
- Your arm should be supported on a flat surface with the upper arm at heart level.
- It is a good practice to measure at the same time every day or per the instructions of your healthcare professional.
- Take multiple readings and record the results.
