The Age of Steam is coveted by many as the golden era in all of railroading. But to keep up with an ever changing world, railroads had to innovate with new technologies and breakthroughs. Like their ancestors, the diesel electric locomotive went through many phases throughout its evolution, from the elegantly streamlined cab units to the utilitarian eco-friendly heavy haul units of today.
