Arctic Foods Innovation Cluster - AFIC

Since 2020, M.V. Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University co-administers Arctic Foods Innovation Cluster - AFIC, a project run by Arctic Council Sustainable Development Working Group.
The project is partnered by educational, research and business organizations in Canada (University of Saskatchewan, Project Manager), Norway, Finland, Iceland, United States, and Russia
Arctic Foods Innovation Cluster unfolds its research agenda within three thematic areas – Agroforestry, Aquaculture, Arctic Biotechnologies.
The project has among its cross-cutting topics innovative solutions and technologies for local foods development, entrepreneurship culture, and local producer support. Work is in process to develop nutrient rich dietary foods intended for various population groups including those in the extreme climate of the Arctic.
Arctic Foods Innovation Cluster will benefit food industries by giving insights into tackling the challenges of food security, at regional and global levels, in the context of the changing climate and with due regard to the Arctic region.
