The culture for jobs in Canada is super different, as an immigrant, getting a job without Canadian experience can be super challenging. I think Linkedin is a powerful app and can be used to your advantage to get that job in Canada. I personally use Linkedin for my professional branding, not to say you can't do other things on it but I keep mine to be just professional. I did not know much about Linkedin until I started applying for jobs in Canada after my PR got approved.
