Oliver, our Lead Respiratory Medicine Physio talks about his experiences during the last two years

Two years ago today, on Tuesday 4 February 2020, we cared for our first COVID-19 positive patient here at OUH.

In that time, we have all adapted to different ways of working as we, together as #OneTeamOneOUH, responded to the unique challenges that the pandemic brought with it.

On behalf of the Trust Board, we would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for everything that you have done every single day since to provide the best possible care for our patients, demonstrating compassionate excellence in all that you do.

Thank you for caring for not only the patients, families and carers who depend on you but also each other in your teams and across divisions and departments.

Thank you for helping us treat our patients for COVID-19 and administer nearly 60,000 vaccinations. All the way through this difficult period we have consistently heard stories of unity, professionalism, and excellence about our people – each and every single one of you has played an important part.

Whether it’s setting up and running vaccination hubs, being redeployed or battling another wave of the virus, you have stood tall against everything that has been thrown at you. We are proud to call you all our colleagues.

This pandemic has been a major challenge but it has also brought the best out of us, individually and collectively, and we are proud of the difference our people, clinical and non-clinical, have made in different ways.

We know we’re not out of this yet and we cannot thank you enough for your continued commitment – thank you for all that you do.
