Baby Seal Frees Himself From Huge Fishing Hook

While on patrol for Ocean Conservation Namibia (www.ocnamiba.org), Denzil, Antoine and Naude saw a young Cape Fur Seal pup running towards the water with a big fishing hook in his mouth, and trailing a long piece of thick line behind him. Naude raced back to fetch the bolt cutter while Denzil and Antoine chased the pup before he reached the beach.
As Denzil got the net over him, he managed to shake loose the hook on his own. He was still in the net, and once freed he actually took a few slow steps towards the rescuers and studied them for about a minute before going back to the other waiting seals.
The guys could see that his lip was a bit swollen where the hook used to be, but other than that the pup was strong and ready to take on the world again.
