Culture and art will suffer 'as a result of cancel culture'

Art and culture will be the biggest losers as western societies continue to "weaponise language," according to actor and singer-songwriter Laurence Fox.

Mr Fox says he was "cancelled" after appearing on a BBC program where he argued Britain was not a fundamentally racist country.

He told Sky News cancel culture is making people terrified of "the smallest slip of a syllable."

"The point of art is to explore the wonders of language and people are so terrified now, I think culture and art will suffer as a result of it," he said.

"Art is where we respond to the environment we live in. I think it's sad we live in an artistic monoculture.

"I feel people are throwing away words, and they don't want to use words anymore, and that people are looking for any opportunity they can to be offended about anything they can be offended by...I think it's stoked by the media in the UK...it's almost like people are encouraging this stroll towards great nihilism."
