Stand-off with Chinese journalist ‘disappeared as soon as it appeared’ in the first place

Sky News host Paul Murray says one would hope the press gallery journalists being filmed by a woman who claimed to be from a Chinese state news organisation would be “more curious than they seem to be”.

A bizarre standoff was caught on camera at the Prime Minister's media conference in Canberra after a Chinese journalist demanded a camera operator stop filming her.

The woman, who reportedly works for a Chinese state-owned media organisation, confronted the SBS crew after she noticed they were filming in her direction.

She is, by all reports, not a permanent member of the press gallery which raises questions as to who signed her in, as all non-members of the press gallery cannot easily access the area in which the exchange occurred.

“This story seemed to disappear as soon as it appeared in the first place”.
