Soleares Jazz Waltz - Solo Guitar - Gary Deacon

Recorded in 1990, 'Soleares Jazz Waltz' is a flamenco-jazz Lenny Breau inspired composition by Alan de Mause.

I performed on a 1968 Sadao Yairi flamenco guitar and included the composition for my 'Six String Things' album which turned out to be quite a major recording project produced by Dave Williams and recorded by Clive Gaunt.

It was a privilege to work with an A team of studio musicians including Mike Campbell, Darryl Andrews (both of whom also contributed great arrangements), Andrew Lilley, Richard Pickett and key members of the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra.

Nominated in 1991 for an Artes Award, the album consists of 12 titles (including 6 original compositions) and remains a major highlight of my career as a musician.

The watercolour sketch was a special contribution for another album cover by my late father Arthur Deacon.
