[Longplay, No Commentary] MechWarrior 3: Pirate's Moon (PC, 1999) 1080p Play-through Part 1/2

MechWarrior 3: Pirate's Moon is the only expansion pack for MechWarrior 3, released for Windows just a few months later from the base game. Part 1 of the play-through tells the campaign story. No respite for our heroes as they get transferred out of the frying pan into the fire, dealing with pirates on some hostile mining planet.

Some new mechs and weapons aside, it is still MechWarrior 3, with repetitive maps and more mundane travelling. Getting this expansion to work on a modern PC is an even bigger nightmare than it was for the base game, due to the lack of patches / fixes for the expansion. Whatever I have done to stabilise the game messed up the space-time continuum as well so everything seems to be in slow motion. Also, joystick throttle slider does not work here for some reason, but at least setting up WASD + mouse controls is rather straightforward.

Honestly, it is more of a chore than enjoyable to play this expansion now, but I suppose the experience would be way better back in the days when the game can be played on hardware it was designed to play in.
